"Find the light inside you and share it with the world.  What inspiring words I heard from a remarkable man at today's Monroe Kiwanis meeting. Marty Sheedy was born with multiple congenital issues, including Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) and Eagle-Barrett Syndrome. Doctors told his parents he would not live past age three. At one time, they were told that his legs should be amputated. But he proved them wrong!

Now Marty is 27 years old and can run! He showed us how he can ambulate in a unique way with a "scissor gait." By thinking about walking in a new way, with crossed legs, he achieved something remarkable.

His goal now is to raise awareness and help others with these conditions. He joked with us that, since he is small but looks old to children, he is the only one in a restaurant who can order off the kid's menu and get a drink at the bar. But more importantly he talked about finding one's life purpose and seeing the positive side of things, even when faced with enormous obstacles.

Today I feel rather awed by this man and his positive message. It's tempting to feel sorry for ourselves sometimes, to feel life is unfair. The challenge is to accept who we are, to touch others, and make the absolute most of our lives. You are an inspiration, Marty!"

- Cheryl Werner Lohmeyer,

Attorney & Counselor at Law

"Marty has touched the lives of thousands of people and continues to be an inspiration every single day. He make everyone that you're with feel so special and loved - that's a rare and beautiful quality."

- Sharon Ward Ewles

"I was with Marty today at O.L Smith Middle School and he was amazing. In each assembly you could hear a pin drop. I have a theory- I believe Marty is an angel on earth. I am so honored to share these experiences with him."

- Jacqui Palmer Rivait,

Student Services Programs Specialist for Dearborn Public Schools

Marty Sheedy provides a dynamic and uplifting Medical & Motivational speech that not only educates the crowd about his conditions, but also shares his life experiences with humor, and gives an insight into life from a very criss-crossed perspective. He has spoken at Shriners Hospitals For Children events across the country, Rotary clubs, Kiwanis clubs, all levels of schooling - from Elementary to High School and even colleges, companies like Blue Cross and Blue Shield, plus a range of other great events.

Speeches can be anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour long.
